Perinatal Mental Health Clinicians: 1099 Independent Contractors
Job description
Overview
We are seeking Virginia clinicians as 1099 independent contractors who are interested in maternal mental health. Our practice specializes in maternal mental health/perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), anxiety, depression, racial trauma, PTSD, adjustment/life transition concerns, and women’s issues. Options available for in-person and/or virtual only positions.
Reporting to the Founder & Clinical Director, Dr. Danielle Spearman, PMH-C, PSYPACT Psychologist, your key responsibilities will include:

Providing one-on-one virtual care visits for FAMILY FOCUS COUNSEL ("FFC") patients.

For clinicians within the Richmond Metro area, providing virtual and/or onsite care visits for FFC patients.
​

Providing behavioral health screenings and appropriate response including diagnostic, therapy, and behavioral health interventions to pregnant and postpartum patients.
​

Provide individual or family therapy to mothers, fathers, and families experiencing or at risk of experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs).
​

Performing ongoing psychosocial assessment of patients, providing reassurance and building rapport.
​

Reducing care gaps (missed appointments, incorporating treatment tools, client homework assignments, and outcome measure integration, timely updates of treatment plans, etc.) by frequent engagements with patient.

Triaging of patients with urgent screening results for emergency services and concerns to appropriate referral to alternate provider(s) within the patient's local community in collaboration with the Practice Manager.

Documenting all care/interactions in a timely fashion.
​

Stay current with best practices and emerging research in maternal mental health.
​

If not yet acquired, work towards obtaining Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) within a specified timeframe.

Experience, Interests, Support, and PERKS:
-
Independently licensed as LCSW, LPC, and/or Psychologist in the State of Virginia.
​

Must have NPI Number and Individual Malpractice Insurance.
​

Must reside in Virginia with no relocation plans to move out-of-state within the next two years.
​

Have experience with perinatal mental health care, possibly including: perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-informed care, and the like.
​

Understand the prevalence and role that birth inequity and structural racism plays in maternal morbidity and mortality.
​

Experience working with clients eligible for Medicaid and/or other public health programs.
​

Willing to cross license in other states where there is a company need (you'd be supported with this process by our licensing and credentialing team).

Very comfortable managing daily communications and documentation through email, spreadsheets, EHR(s), and other commonly used software (i.e., ZOOM, phone, app, etc.), and willingness to work with new software.

Access to a robust EHR system designed to streamline documentation and administrative to dos, progress notes, secured patient portal communications, automatic appointment reminders, and remote access.

Our highly trained support staff provide scheduling, insurance verification and billing, referral support, discharge planning, medical records requests, and other general office tasks.

Support for pursuing PSYPACT mobile credential if interested.
​

Reimbursement for completed certifications and paid CEUs during contracted period.

Support with case consultation meetings.

Referral bonus.

Bonus points if you have any of the following:

Certification in Perinatal Mental Health - PMH-C (would need to complete within 1 year of employment)

Multiple state licenses and/or PSYPACT or PSYPACT-eligible Psychologist

Experience working with trauma patients
​

Certification in cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and EMDR

Experience providing virtual care
